Research Programme

INTRODUCTION

The academic staff members of the School of Pharmaceutical Sciences are involved in various sectors of professional activity such as the provision of consultatives services to goverment and non-govermental organisations at local and international levels.

Teaching and research laboratories are well-equipped and up-to-date and most academic staff have research funds through grants obtained locally or internationally. Research can be carried out under the supervision of one or more academic staff in any of the following disciplines or research areas; natural products, traditional medicine and pharmacognosy; pharmaceutical technology; pharmaceutical chemistry; pharmaceutical biotechnology and microbiology; social and administrative pharmacy; pharmacokinetics and bioavailability; drug abuse; neuroscience; pharmacology and immunomodulation; physiology, pharmacy practice and clinical pharmacy. There are also opportunities to be involved in research projects which are carried out in collaboration with researchers in universities and institutions abroad.

The School of Pharmaceutical Sciences offers degree of Msc and PhD by research in the following fields of specailzation.

  • Physiology
  • Pharmacology
  • Clinical Pharmacy
  • Pharmaceutical Chemistry
  • Pharmaceutical Technology
  • Social and Administrative Pharmacy


ADMISSION REQUIREMENT

MASTER OF SCIENCE AND DOCTOR OF PHILOSOPHY - RESEARCH

Admission Requirements

Applicants should possess one of the following:


1. Msc:

  • A BPharm degree.
  • A Bachelor's degree in a related area.
  • International student: TOEFL score: minimum of 550; or IELTS: minimum of band 6; or University Intensive English Course Level 4 (Min. Grade B)
  • Malaysian: MUET: band 5 or equivalent


2. PhD:

  • A Master's or Bachelor's (First Class Honours) / CGPA > 3.67 degree in a related area.
  • International student: TOEFL score: minimum of 550; or IELTS: minimum of band 6; or University Intensive English Course Level 4 (Min. Grade B)
  • Malaysian: MUET: band 5 or equivalent
